Following the successful tailor-made solutions to the Yamal LNG project, one of the world’s largest liquefied natural gas extraction projects, F2A is pleased to be part of Arctic LNG 2.
This new huge liquefied natural gas project of 19.8 million tons a year is led by Russian gas producer NOVATEK in partnership with TOTAL (10%), CNOOC (10%), CNPC (10%) and a Mitsui-Jogmec consortium, Japan Arctic LNG (10%).
As on YAMAL LNG project, TechnipFMC is the appointed EPC for the engineering, the supply of the products and the construction of the production site. The plant will be composed of 3 trains each placed on a concrete barge which will then be towed to the mouth of the Ob River to be connected to the various gas gathering pipeline networks.
Requirements
Considering the fact that Arctic LNG 2 is located in the High North of Russia like Yamal, in a region that is frozen from 7 to 9 months per year, F2A had first to face with numerous weather constraints :
- The temperature that can drop down to -52°C in the winter time and so heat traced weather louver for air intake and air exhaust.
- Highly-corrosive environment (aqueous, atmospheric and galvanic corrosion).
- Production capacity of very large modules assemblies up to 4 meters high.
- Russian certificates and standards TR CU 012.
F2A solution
F2A has shown its know-how and engineering capacity by offering tailor-made solutions that meet climatic, corrosion and dimensional constraints (sets of elements up to 2500 X 3960 mm).
On the other hand, F2A had to readjust its range of GH louvers and Windshields like for Yamal project to include a heat traced for extreme oil and gas environment conditions in order to prevent ice from formation or snowpacks wich could dangerouly reduce air intake or air exhaust.
In addition to a dedicated project team composed of 10 people in our air management factory (production and design office), a project manager was hired for this purpose.
